About
Wood to Spec is the CNC routing service of JLTG Designs Ltd.
Based near St Albans, the workshop machines MDF, MR MDF and plywood stock up to 1220 × 1220 mm for one-off parts, prototypes and repeat batches dispatched across the UK mainland.
Why the service exists
Smaller CNC jobs often need more conversation than large processors are designed to provide.
A product seller may have a sketch but not production CAD. A workshop may need a jig but not a hundred sheets. A designer may need one physical part to expose a fit problem. Wood to Spec is positioned around that gap.
The aim is not to imitate a factory. It is to provide a controlled, commercially clear route from the information you have to a part that can be checked, approved and repeated.
- Practical review before machining
- Defined scope and approval
- Physical testing where uncertainty matters
- Revision control for repeat orders
- Honest boundaries and evidence

Owner-led workshop
10 years working across CNC, laser and 3D printing.
Wood to Spec is run by Gary, with a decade of hands-on experience designing, building and using CNC machines, laser engravers and 3D printers.
Every enquiry is reviewed directly by Gary before it is accepted for quotation.
That work includes building complex machines that bring these technologies together, and developing products that combine CNC-machined structures, laser-engraved detail and 3D-printed components.
The result is a practical understanding of how each process can support the others—from a physical prototype through to a finished, repeatable product.
