CNC enquiry and service terms
The website starts a review. A project becomes production work only when scope, material, quantity, price and approval requirements are set out in an accepted quote.
In these terms, “Wood to Spec”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to JLTG Designs Ltd operating the Wood to Spec service.
1. Enquiry and feasibility
An enquiry may begin with incomplete information. Wood to Spec can request dimensions, material, quantity, intended use, critical fit, finish, files, hardware or packaging requirements before deciding whether the job is suitable or quoting it.
The service is intended for one-offs, prototypes and small batches. Quantities above 50 can be reviewed, but this is not presented as a high-volume manufacturing service.
2. Customer information and rights
You must have the right to supply every drawing, image, design, name, logo and file. You remain responsible for checking the functional, safety, legal and intellectual-property requirements of the product you intend to make or sell.
3. Quote and approval
The written quote and its referenced drawing, file or revision define the proposed work. A later change can affect feasibility, setup, material, machining time, packing, postage and price. Production does not begin until the agreed approval and payment conditions in the quote are met.
4. Materials, tolerances and fit
MDF, MR MDF and structural plywood are the standard materials. Another sheet material may be considered for a suitable project but is not part of the standard offering. The quote will state whether material is supplied by Wood to Spec or by the customer.
The standard maximum stock size is 1220 × 1220 mm. The usable finished-part area may be smaller because of workholding, cutter access, edge allowance and the machining method. Final suitability is confirmed during review.
Sheet material varies in thickness, flatness, moisture response, face quality and edge behaviour. CNC accuracy is not the same as functional fit. Critical fits, visible details and tolerance-sensitive features must be identified and may require representative stock, hardware, a coupon or a prototype.
5. Test cuts and prototypes
A test or prototype reduces a stated risk; it does not prove every condition of later use. Approval of a sample confirms the recorded version and agreed acceptance points. Unrecorded assumptions are not treated as approved requirements.
6. Finish and assembly
A quote may cover CNC machining only or additional agreed stages such as part separation, preparation or packing. Assembly, finishing and other post-machining work are included only when expressly stated in the quote. Unless included, downstream sanding, coating, hardware, assembly, product testing, compliance, labelling and retail packaging remain the customer’s responsibility.
7. Postage and damage
Finished work is sent by UK-mainland courier or postal dispatch. Fitting, installation and local delivery are not offered. Packed size, weight, protection, service and cost are reviewed per job. Visible transit damage should be photographed with the packaging and reported promptly using the project reference.
8. Files, records and repeat orders
A repeat order must identify the earlier reference and whether it is an exact repeat or a revision. Wood to Spec will not knowingly machine from an obsolete file where the version is unclear. Retention and confidentiality handling are described in the privacy notice.
Routine drawings and reference files may be attached or supplied through a file-share link. For commercially sensitive designs, submit an initial description without the sensitive file so that a suitable transfer method can be agreed during review.
9. Cancellation and problems
The accepted quote controls cancellation, material already purchased, completed programming or machining, and any remedy. If supplied work differs from the approved scope, keep the parts and packaging and report the issue with photographs and the project reference so it can be assessed.
